....starts with CHANGE.

As a gay man myself, I know the discrimination that comes with my sexuality. Thankfully, I live in Toronto where it is more accepted than in most cities around the world. Unlike most American states, Canada allows homosexuals to be recognized as a married couple. This is a huge issue in America, seeing as they stand for equality for all, yet they do not believe in same-sex marriage. The American blog, Goodasyou.org, is a pro-gay blog fighting for equality across the country. They cover all news that surronds gay issues.

Blogs like this REALLY do make a difference. It’s the people of America that must stand up for what matters. The country was built by the people FOR the people, and issues are only as critical as citizens make it be.

There are two issues I’d like to address:

Bullying

Bullying has become a big issue recently for gay students. Even I was bullied at some point about my sexuality. School programs need to be initiated for gay students, seeing as many don’t have anyone to turn to. Gay and lesbian students are killing themselves everyday because they are being tormented at school just because they may like someone of the same-sex.

This video by Oprah, sums up the gay bullying problem pretty well. See Below.

Gay Marriage

It disappoints me how long it is taking for change. Gay couples want to be recognized as a married couple because they LOVE each other. Yet, why is Kim Kardashian allowed having a 17-day marriage? Yes… this must be love. Celebrities are always taking advantage of the sanction of marriage. Homosexual couples want to be married because they want to commit the rest of their lives with someone they love. Just because it is someone of the same-sex, why does it matter?

Love is not always between a man and a woman. It shouldn’t be anyone’s decision on who I’m allowed to marry. What matters is what I FEEL. Why should a gay man have to worry about what others think?
