...begins with EQUALITY

In response to the blog post entitled, “True Conservatives benefit from GLAAD’s commentator Accountability Project” posted on March 15th. As a future member and contributor to the media, I disagree with the idea that anti-gay members of the government should be not be accountable for what they say during their campaign. If they go on public record stating their ideas on the topic of gay marriage, especially if they are commenting the way I have read in the blog post, then it can be used for or against them. If these are truly their views and ideas, than they should stand behind them. These statements communicate inequality of all sexual orientations and how gay rights could possibly lead to the collapse of our economy. Although these individuals are required to state their points and opinions on gay rights, the statements and accusations are rather extreme and follow no real basis of fact. If you are exercising your freedom of speech, then it is best to choose wisely when you are an active public figure. I do, however, agree that individuals like Matt Barber cannot represent all political figures within his party and that there are people within the party that may not share these extremist ideals. It is never fair to generalize a group of people in any way.
